Having Brooklyn at home has been absolutely wonderful. She is such a good baby! We were excited to think she would be coming home on a schedule, but she had us fooled. She is eating more than in the NICU and is sleeping shorter periods of time. We haven't gotten much sleep at night, but she is worth it. Tim has been wonderful at helping with her. He will make me go to bed while he stays up with her - how lucky am I? She had her first pediatrician appointment today and it went very well. She now weighs 6 lbs. 2 oz., so she has gained 4 oz. since we left the hospital which is excellent! She got her first round of vaccinations which was hard on Tim and I. The nurse said she was the smallest baby she had ever given shots to. She cried for just a second and then was fine. The doctor wants to leave her on the monitor for one more week to make sure she doesn't have any more episodes. She hasn't had any since we have been home which is an answered prayer.
Tayden had another echo today and they determined that his PDA has closed which is amazing news! He did start steroids today and will continue them until Wednesday. They are hoping that this will help him breathe a little easier. He pulled his feeding tube out over the weekend and they decided to leave it out as long as he eats enough, and so far he is. We took the carseat to the hospital tonight so that he can have his study tomorrow. They are also circumsizing him in the morning. He now weighs 6 lbs. 12 oz. At this point we anticipate brininging him home on Thursday. My mom has come over the past two nights and watched Brooklyn so that we could go and visit Tayden. Tonight she brought us a home-cooked meal which was delicious and very much appreciated.
Yesterday my sweet sisters and friends threw me one final shower. It was great to see so many people I hadn't seen in awhile and my grandparents got to attend. My mom's good friend Maggie drove them over from Abilene so that they could meet all of their new great grandbabies. It was a wonderful afternoon and the babies got a lot of great gifts. Brooklyn even got her first bikini!!! Tim is going back to work tomorrow and will take off again when Tayden comes home. We are so ready to have our whole family here at home! Please pray for Tayden as he has his circumcision tomorrow, for the steroids to greatly improve his breathing, and for him to become stronger with bottle feeding. Please pray for Brooklyn to continue to thrive at home - gaining weight and getting in a routine.
