We Survived!!!!
Yesterday was a very long day. Tim called the nurse at 6:30 a.m. and she told him that Brooklyn had another small episode in the middle of the night due to reflux. We were sure that they would push the rooming-in back a few more nights, but instead, the doctor ordered a monitor for her to be on for a while when we take her home. We met with the home health nurse yesterday afternoon so she could show us how the monitor works, how to put it on her, and then she let us practice to make sure we felt comfortable. This will give us peace of mind for an extra few weeks that the is keeping her heart rate up even when she has reflux episodes. Our rooming-in experience went pretty well. Brooklyn was wide awake in the beginning and was hungry so we fed her a little early. She ate, and then would fall asleep as I held her, but as soon as I put her in her bed she would wake up and start crying (hard to get used to at 2:30 a.m.). I eventually put her in her carseat and she slept for a few hours. I tried to feed her at 4:00, but she was in a deep sleep, so we waited until 5:00 and tried again. She ate well and then slept until 8:30 when I woke her up to feed her again. The nurses have all be super helpful and it was so nice to have one night close to them in case we needed anything. The doctor checked her again this morning and she looks good. We are just waiting to be discharged. Tayden is doing AWESOME!!! He has been finishing almost all of his bottles at every feeding. They only use his feeding tube if he is really, really tired. We are anticipating that he will be joining us at home in a week - 10 days. Thank you all for your prayers last night. We are still in shock that we are about to get in the car and take Brooklyn home with us, but we are so excited and thankful!!!
