Tonight we were introduced to a new kind of bonding experience called lick and cuddle. Basically it is like the kangaroo hold, but you allow them to root around and explore. We tried this with both babies separately for about 15 minutes. Brooklyn didn't seem very interested and ended up falling asleep after a few minutes. Tayden rooted around and showed some interest, but then he found his fingers and they were more appealing to him. It was great to get to hold both babies in one evening and they both went back into their isolettes very sleepy. Tayden weighed 4 lbs. 1/2 oz. and Brooklyn weighed 3 lbs. 13 oz. this morning. They are both maintaining their body temperature very well and should be in open air cribs within a week or so. They are wearing new outfits every time we see them so we have definitely started doing baby laundry. My sweet Aunt Sara sent the babies another package today with preemie clothes, swaddling blankets, and bows for Brooklyn. Aunt Sara - words cannot express how much we appreciate all that you and Uncle Dean have done for us. Your care packages definitely put a smile on my face and I know the twins are loving all of their new outfits - I love seeing them all dressed up. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Tim is now putting together the changing table that arrived today. He anticipated it would only take 45 minutes. We will see how close he is!
